Here are some of the thought from the final message in the series, “I Do but sometimes I don’t”.
There is more to a marriage than good communication, conflict resolution, passion, good friendship and some positive attitudes. Marriage is a SUPERNATURAL event founded upon a mutual exchange of HOLY PLEDGES.
In Matthew 19:3-9, Jesus defines marriage is a God idea. It is God ordained since the beginning of human history. When asked about the law of Moses, He doesn’t even go there, He goes back to the beginning.
Marriage is spiritual so it will be spiritually attacked. Our enemy is crafty in his ability to plant thoughts. He drops in ideas like, “They’re just not the one, I need to move on before it’s too late.” He invades our culture with with the sins of adultery, divorce, co-habitation, and homosexuality. All in an effort to de-value the sacredness of marriage.
“ I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the LORD.”
Hosea 2:19-20
In Hosea, God’s defines the 5 Ingredients of Marital Bliss
Righteousness, Justice, Lovingkindness, Mercy and Faithfulness. Notice that God doesn’t use relationship words to describe marriage. He uses spiritual words to describe marriage.
Marriage is spiritual so there must be a God factor. That’s why the most important things we can do are to worship together, pray together and serve together.
